How healthy is PornHub for cryptocurrency's reputation?

World's leading adult content website -PornHub has undergone a couple of technical and relational changes. Following a global outcry of abuse and extortion by the firm owned and run by Mindgeek, it has announced the purging of over 10 million unverified pornographic contents from its website.
As part of the reactions following agitations by 'victims' of the firm, e-payment giants - MasterCard and and Visa have also withdrawn their services from the troubled platform.

However, in what looks like a win for the crypto space, PornHub has announced a 'crypto only' payment gateway for subscriptions on the platform. Bitcoin, ethereum, Tron and USDT have been listed amongst the first set of accepted cryptocurrencies for making payments on the platform.

While this looks like a big win for cryptocurrency and another step towards mass adoption, it doesn't necessarily speak loads of goods about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology (in my opinion). Pornhub has been accused of extreme sexual crimes including child pornography and rape. An act which casts shades on not only the firm, but its partners too. A major reason Mastercard and visa withdrew their support for the website.

Cryptocurrency, over the years has been a turn off for a greater part of the society for the lone reason that it's anonymity could promote illicit acts, Pornhub's acceptance could prove this right at the end.

Anonymity is a very important feature of blockchain-level cryptocurrency transactions. A basic cryptocurrency transaction is relatively anonymous. Complicated addresses, sometimes alphanumeric. Tracing transactions like this (to the sender in person) on a blockchain level is near impossible. On the extreme, the idea of privacy coins is total anonymity.

With few options left, PornHub’s resort to cryptocurrency depicts cryptocurrency’s prevalence over contemporary stores of value and a very auspicious event. But this doesn’t come without some turn offs…

The fact that Pornhub only rushed to Purge unverified videos and failing to address the irregularities found on their website says a lot about the firm. If these acts continue on their website and cryptocurrency is used as a tool to facilitate it, then this could publicly dent the reputation of cryptocurrencies.

Just like the silk road was good, this is good as well.

During the great cock spam epidemic of 2020, I am on record and saying that I will never put porn on blurt....

So that's the thing though, I won't do it.

But there's no censorship on this platform, if someone else does it, suppose that the cock spammer, they want to make some kind of a dick pic platform....

Like dudes just spamming each other with cock all day....

They can upvote cock but can't downvote it.

They pay a transaction fee to post cock.

This is actually totally fine by me.

The transaction fees are not here to banish cock, they are here to banish the free spamming of cock.

It's a cool stuff, content censorship is a dent on human rights and freedom of speech. But sometimes, even these rights can be abused, that's the case with PornHub. Now, cryptocurrency might be used to sustain this abuse as it is currently their sole means of payment. Might look good now, but it could be a time bomb.
