Cómo cambiar los temas en Gnome 3 con Gnome Shell. [ESP-ENG]

Todo lo que necesitas saber para comenzar a usar Linux, uno de los ejemplos más prominentes de software libre. Guías, tutoriales y noticias de interés acerca de Linux, el sistema operativo más robusto que existe.

A pesar del atractivo tema por defecto utilizado para Gnome 3 con Gnome Shell de nombre Adwaita, uno de los aspectos mas llamativos de entorno de escritorio en GNU/Linux es la posibilidad de modificarlo para adaptarlo mejor a nuestros gustos y necesidades.

Esto es algo común en todos los entornos de escritorio que podemos encontrar actualmente para cualquier distribución GNU/Linux, desde Gnome, pasando por KDE hasta los minimalistas al extremo como lo puede llegar a ser OpenBox.

Gnome 3 con Gnome Shell no es la excepción, pero tampoco nos hace fácil la tarea de modificar el aspecto del Shell, ya que prácticamente tendríamos que modificar el tema por defecto para poder hacer los cambios que queremos.

Esto obviamente no es lo optimo, no deberíamos tener que tocar un tema para poder hacer que nuestro escritorio se vea de otro modo, pero teniendo en cuenta que actualmente Gnome 3 aun se encuentra en pañales, seguramente esto será corregido y pronto tendremos una herramienta que nos permita jugar con las diferentes caras que este excelente Shell nos puede ofrecer.

Lo primero que debemos hacer es instalar Gnome Tweak Tool, una sencilla aplicación que nos permitirá modificar algunos aspectos de Gnome Shell, tales como el comportamiento de Nautilus en cuanto al escritorio, el tema de iconos, las fuentes tipográficas del sistema, el aspecto del Shell y hasta los botones de maximizar y minimizar eliminados en Gnome Shell.

Para instalar Gnome Tweak Tool ejecuta la siguiente linea en la terminal:

sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool #Ubuntu
sudo yum install gnome-tweak-tool #Fedora
sudo pacman -S gnome-tweak-tool #ArchLinux

Ahora vamos a elegir el nuevo tema que deseamos utilizar para Gnome Shell, los cuales al momento de escribir esta entrada, son solo dos diseñados ambos por half-left y esperemos que diseñe muchos mas porque su trabajo es sensacional.

Despite the attractive default theme used for Gnome 3 with Gnome Shell called Adwaita, one of the most striking aspects of the desktop environment in GNU/Linux is the possibility of modifying it to better adapt it to our tastes and needs.

This is something common in all the desktop environments that we can currently find for any GNU/Linux distribution, from Gnome, through KDE to the extremely minimalist ones such as OpenBox.

Gnome 3 with Gnome Shell is no exception, but it doesn't make it easy to modify the appearance of the Shell, as we would practically have to modify the default theme to be able to make the changes we want.

This is obviously not optimal, we should not have to touch a theme to make our desktop look different, but considering that currently Gnome 3 is still in its infancy, surely this will be corrected and soon we will have a tool that allows us to play with the different faces that this excellent Shell can offer us.

The first thing to do is to install Gnome Tweak Tool, a simple application that will allow us to modify some aspects of Gnome Shell, such as the behaviour of Nautilus in terms of the desktop, the icon theme, the system fonts, the appearance of the Shell and even the maximize and minimize buttons removed in Gnome Shell.

To install Gnome Tweak Tool run the following line in the terminal:

sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool #Ubuntu

sudo pacman -S gnome-tweak-tool #ArchLinux

Now let's choose the new theme we want to use for Gnome Shell, which at the time of writing this post, are only two designed by half-left and let's hope he designs many more because his work is sensational.
