If the Lord Jehovah makes us wait, let us do so with our whole hearts; for blessed are all they that wait for Him. He is worth waiting for.
Charles Spurgeon wrote these words over a hundred years ago and I still love them today. God is worth waiting for. That one sentence stirs up my heart and gives me strength when I grow weary. Waiting is hard. Waiting is painful. Waiting drains our energy and allows doubt to flourish. But, waiting also builds our faith, and faith tells us that God is worth waiting for!
Mr. Spurgeon went on to write,
The waiting itself is beneficial to us: it tries faith, exercises patience, trains submission, and endears the blessing when it comes. The Lord’s people have always been a waiting people.”
Perhaps waiting doesn’t have to be painful. Perhaps, the joy of the promise that will appear at the end of waiting can give us the strength to stand strong.
Galatians 6:9 encourages us,
Let us not become weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Waiting may be tiring, but strength comes from the Lord (Isaiah 12:2). Waiting may be painful, but healing flows from God’s hands (Jeremiah 30:17). Waiting may push us to the limits, but GOD IS WORTH WAITING FOR.
