The Answer for Doubt|| La respuesta para la duda [ENG-ESP]

Matt.11.1 - After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.

Matt.11.5 - The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.

In today’s reading, it appears that John voices his doubt in Jesus as the Messiah. It seems like just a relatively short time since John claimed it was he who needed to be baptized by Jesus, and yet here we have him asking Jesus if they should be looking for someone else. Some have suggested that John’s intention was to point his disciples to Jesus.

Other’s believe John, like most of the Jews, falsely believed the Messiah would come for the political freedom of the nation of Israel instead of the global freedom of mankind from sin. As John sat in Herod’s prison, he had to have been hoping Jesus would rise up a powerful army, kick out the Romans, and set him free.

Jesus ’ response to John and his disciples might not strike us the same way it would have struck them. We have two thousand years of understanding that Jesus didn’t come to mount an army to defeat the Romans. We have the bigger picture which includes the cross and Resurrection Sunday.

Even though we understand that God desires our spiritual freedom before our physical comfort, we still fall into the mistake of believing God should do things differently. We still see things from our limited point of view and attempt to mold God’s design to our desires. In fact, in some ways we are at more of a disadvantage to understanding the Messiah than John and his disciples. Yes, we have two thousand years of knowing the full story, but we also have two thousand years of people manipulating the story for their own benefit.

The response Jesus gave John’s disciples is still the perfect response; however: Look at the life and acts of Christ and see for yourself if he is the Messiah.

There have been many people who gave their lives to the Lord after striving to prove Him false. The more they looked at the facts, the more they realized atheism could not be substantiated. Do we have moments of doubt? Let us look to who our Savior is. If we do not spend time looking and seeing for ourselves, we cannot possibly have a personal relationship with him.

Do you know people who doubt or do not believe? Tell them of Jesus. His life, his actions, his miracles speak for themselves. The answer to all our doubts can be found in the life of Christ.

En la lectura de hoy, parece que Juan expresa su duda sobre Jesús como el Mesías. Parece que pasó relativamente poco tiempo desde que Juan afirmó que era él quien necesitaba ser bautizado por Jesús y, sin embargo, aquí lo tenemos preguntándole a Jesús si deberían buscar a alguien más. Algunos han sugerido que la intención de Juan era señalar a sus discípulos a Jesús.

Otros creen que Juan, como la mayoría de los judíos, creía falsamente que el Mesías vendría por la libertad política de la nación de Israel en lugar de la libertad global de la humanidad del pecado. Cuando Juan se sentó en la prisión de Herodes, tenía que haber estado esperando que Jesús levantara un ejército poderoso, expulsara a los romanos y lo liberara.

Es posible que la respuesta de Jesús a Juan y sus discípulos no nos impacte de la misma manera que a ellos. Tenemos dos mil años de entendimiento de que Jesús no vino a montar un ejército para derrotar a los romanos. Tenemos el panorama general que incluye la cruz y el Domingo de Resurrección.

Aunque entendemos que Dios desea nuestra libertad espiritual antes que nuestra comodidad física, aún caemos en el error de creer que Dios debe hacer las cosas de manera diferente. Todavía vemos las cosas desde nuestro punto de vista limitado e intentamos moldear el diseño de Dios a nuestros deseos. De hecho, de alguna manera estamos en mayor desventaja para entender al Mesías que Juan y sus discípulos. Sí, tenemos dos mil años de conocer la historia completa, pero también tenemos dos mil años de gente manipulando la historia para su propio beneficio.

La respuesta que Jesús dio a los discípulos de Juan sigue siendo la respuesta perfecta; sin embargo: Mira la vida y los actos de Cristo y comprueba por ti mismo si él es el Mesías.

Ha habido muchas personas que dieron su vida al Señor después de esforzarse por probar que Él era falso. Cuanto más miraban los hechos, más se daban cuenta de que el ateísmo no podía ser probado. ¿Tenemos momentos de duda? Miremos quién es nuestro Salvador. Si no dedicamos tiempo a buscar y ver por nosotros mismos, no podemos tener una relación personal con él.

¿Conoces personas que duden o no crean? Háblales de Jesús. Su vida, sus acciones, sus milagros hablan por sí solos. La respuesta a todas nuestras dudas se puede encontrar en la vida de Cristo.
