Onion soup made in France

Hi Blurt community, before starting, a big thank you to @blurtconnect-ng for choosing my post "Vegetable and chicken tortellini soup" for the first place in the 37th edition of their weekly favorite food contest, today I'm sharing with you my recipe for onion soup, which is simple, quick, and budget-friendly.

Ingredients for 2 serving:

  • 2 yellow onions
  • 1/4 chicken bouillon cube
  • 40 g country bread (sliced)
  • 3 pinches grated cheese

Step 1

Peel the onions and slice them thinly.

Step 2

In a hot saucepan, melt a knob of butter, add the onions, and sauté them for 5 minutes.

Step 3

You can add one tablespoon of flour per person for a thicker soup.

Step 4

Add 1.5 cups of water per person (250ml) and the bouillon cube.

Step 5

You can add a splash of white wine according to your taste. Let it simmer for 20 minutes over medium heat.

Step 6

Arrange the bread on an oven-safe tray, sprinkle with grated cheese, and bake under the grill until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Step 7

Serve the soup in a bowl and place the cheese toast on top. It's ready to be enjoyed!
