Many of those who spent their childhood and adolescence around 2000 are familiar with Phantom. No, we are not talking about Saif Ali Khan's Phantom Movie, we are talking about our childhood favorite comic book Hero Phantom. This phantom was our superhero before we got acquainted with Batman, Superman, Spider-Man. Let's dive into the memory page once again and find out the beginning and end of the Phantom!
The character, wearing a tight purple dress and a domino mask, first appeared on the comic strip of the daily newspaper on February 17, 1936. Mandrake was the creator of The Magician character Lee Fock. The Phantom Trail begins with the story ‘The Sing Brotherhood’. He composed his Phantom with a mix of other fictional characters - Mowgli, Tarzan and Yorro. But he thought he would end the Phantom series after a month of running. Of course, there was a reason behind it. Fox thought he would name the character "Gray Ghost" in a gray costume, as there had been several characters named Phantom before. But in the end he chose that phantom name. The character who didn't want to hold on for more than a month made Fok immortal.
The character, who became increasingly popular with fans, was brought into the world of comic books. Phantom comics are being published in different countries. It is even translated into Bengali in our neighboring country India. This phantom is the forest god of Indian Bengal. Fock died in 1999. His last two stories, Terror at the Opera and The Kidnappers, were completed by his wife, Elizabeth. Now Tony de Paul is writing the Phantom series.
There is a legend in the jungles of Bengal, a fictional country in Africa, about a moving supernatural being (The Man Who Walks) who has stood up against all injustices for ages as a protector of the helpless. Many people think he is immortal because he has survived for so long. In fact, the Phantom is a hereditary surviving crime fighter, dating back to the previous 20 generations of the current Phantom. For the reason that they each adopt the phantom identity of the same costume in the lineage, it is never revealed to outsiders. In this way, Phantom has made the rumor of his immortality a reality to everyone. At the death of each phantom, his son takes charge and swears by that famous skull,
“I am sacrificing my life for the destruction of pirates, greed, cruelty, injustice and all their means. My son and his descendants will follow in my footsteps. ”
The history of the Phantom begins with a young sailor named Christopher Walker. Christopher was born in 1518 in Portsmouth. He follows the path of the sailor father as a livelihood. Christopher Walker Sr. was a sailor on the American-bound Columbus ship Santa Maria.
In 1536, 20-year-old Christopher joined his father's last voyage. The pirates suddenly attack the ship and Christopher Sr. dies. Christopher, the only survivor of the entire ship, floated unconscious on the beach in Bengal. The position of the country of Bengal has been shown sometimes in Asia, sometimes in Africa. The pygmies of the Bandar tribe found him and took care of him. Christopher took the oath with the skull of his dead father. Pygmies find him a cave in the shape of a human skull, which he makes suitable for living with various materials. Khuliguha (The Skull Cave) became his home. He became known as the Phantom after wearing a costume based on a deity. After Christopher's death his son became Phantom. After the death of the 2nd Phantom, his son became the Phantom, a lineage that continued through the generations. However, it is not always the boys who are the phantom, sometimes the female phantom is also seen in need of time. Her twin sister Julie Walker lost a group of pirates in a phantom costume while the 17th Phantom was wounded. Thus the Phantom has survived for more than 400 years for 21 generations. He became the protector of the forest of Bengal. People call him The Ghost Who Walks and The Man Who Can't Die.
The current Phantom is the 21st Phantom, Kit Walker. Kit, who spent his childhood in the jungles of Bengal, went to Clarksville, Missouri to study at the age of 12 with his aunt Lucy and uncle Jasper. This is where he meets his girlfriend Diana Palmer. Kit became a very skilled player in his academic career, even losing to the then World Heavyweight Boxing Champion. Ignoring the prospect of a successful future, he returned to the jungles of Bengal to preserve his family heritage. Kit's best friend, Guran, the chief of the Pygmy tribe (only the Pygmies know the true identity of the Phantoms), tells him that Kit's father is stabbed to death. The killer of Kit's father was a pirate named Ram Singh who betrayed the 20th Phantom in the name of helping to seize the Singh Brotherhood's ship, stabbed him from behind and grabbed the Phantom's special gunbelt. Kit finally finds Ram Singh on Gulik Island and regains his father's gunbelt after losing him. But instead of being apprehended by the police, Rama Singh bombed Astana with his accomplice and committed suicide.
Kit Walker's pseudonym is Geoffrey Prescott. Kit's two inseparable companions as a phantom were a mountain wolf named Devil (Bagha) and a horse named Hero (Lightning). Also notable among his pets are a trained hawk named Franca and two dolphins named Solomon and Nefertiti. In 1972, he adopted an orphaned boy named Rex King, who was later found to be the prince of Baronkan, a neighboring state of Bengal. In 1966, Kit married Diana Palmer, a lover working at the United Nations. In married life they have twin children named Kit and Helios.
