Blurtcomics : Thanos wanted to save the World

in blurtcomics •  4 years ago

I remember watching The Avengers Movie with Thanos and his plan to save the World from Overpopulation and thinking to myself isn’t this what Bill Gates and others want to do when they say that the Earth cannot sustain 8 Billion people ?

Are we at 8 Billion people already ?

How many people can the earth sustain ? Why don’t people have fewer babies ?

It’s pretty incredible how a simple Comic Book Villain can make you think of so many important questions.

I think the World is pretty big. It seems to me there is lots of room for people ... especially here in Canada.

Anyway. I sort of liked Thanos.

Everyone else hated him with a passion.

Did you like Thanos ?

This is the Original Comic Book Thanos....

Thanks to Marvel's Avengers movies, the entire world now knows Thanos, the Infinity Stone-loving conqueror. But not many know that in his very first comic book appearance, one tiny error meant readers got to know Thanos... a lot more intimately than they ever expected.

The first appearance of Thanos is surprising for a few reasons, not the least of which his wardrobe malfunction. While the villain might seem like one of Marvel's most important today, his introduction came in the pages of Iron Man #55 -- in a story that had almost nothing to do with Tony Stark. The armored hero randomly receives a psychic distress call from the original version of Drax the Destroyer (long before he was reborn as the version adapted for Guardians of the Galaxy). And just that easily, Iron Man is thrust into Drax's mission to murder an alien named 'Thanos.' But it's the villain's costume that winds up being the most shocking twist.

He was a very Complicated Character .... not your usual Comic Villain.

If Thanos Actually Wiped Out Half of All Life, How Would Earth Fare in the Aftermath?

Like 18th-century scholar Thomas Malthus, Thanos believed that the amount of life in the universe was unsustainable and would eventually destroy itself by consuming all resources. In 1798, the philosopher wrote an essay claiming that populations grow much faster than their food sources, and if growth remained unchecked it would eventually lead to societal collapse. Malthus’ opposition to improving the lives of the poor (who he feared then might have more children) provides a clear template for Thanos’ motivations.

To Save the Planet, Kill 90 Percent of People Off, Says UT Ecologist

Professor Pianka said the Earth as we know it will not survive without drastic measures. Then, and without presenting any data to justify this number, he asserted that the only feasible solution to saving the Earth is to reduce the population to 10 percent of the present number.

He then showed solutions for reducing the world's population in the form of a slide depicting the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. War and famine would not do, he explained. Instead, disease offered the most efficient and fastest way to kill the billions that must soon die if the population crisis is to be solved.

I agree ... Thanos was very complicated. I never know exactly what Disneycorp is releasing for content through movies, and that movie had a lot of stuff going on with it.
