Apart from comic books and animation movies, several actresses have had the good fortune to appear as catwomen in motion pictures. However, not everyone has succeeded. The character is played by three actresses, Julie Newmer, Lee Merioweather and Ertha Kit, in the Batman TV series aired in the sixties. It is because of their extraordinary performances that the popularity of catwomen on the celluloid screen began. Michelle Pfeiffer's great performance as a catwoman in the 1992 film Batman Returns added to that popularity.

However, that popularity plummeted due to the release of 'Catwoman' in 2004. The movie starring Halle Barry did not win the hearts of the audience or critics. Even that টের 100 million movie didn't do well at the box office. Later in 2012, Anna Hathaway regained the popularity of Catwoman. Cameron Becondova, an 18-year-old actress, is currently the catwoman in the Gotham series airing on TV.
