Life goes on quietly for the people of Edison, oblivious to the spread of corruption within the ranks of the secret services and the highest public offices. When a young reporter smells something behind the dubious conviction of a drug dealer, an avalanche of rot will descend on him, threatening to bury him. If Edison were Gotham and the incipit monologue delivered by Batman, the temptation to pigeonhole the play within the precise boundaries of megalomaniacal delirium would not be immediate.

It is not, but one way or another, thanks to a difficult but fast-paced editing, the aforementioned temptation will remain so for a surprisingly long period of time. With a Morgan Freeman still chasing the record for the longest filmography, a stealthy Spacey, an increasingly in-form LL Cool J and a non-dancing Justin Timberlake, playing with names and a telefilm plot, Edison City is a thriller that offers cheap tension, as long as you don't ask too many questions.

In the imaginary metropolis of Edison City, two cops break into a hideout where three drug dealers sleep, summarily execute one and ensure that the blame falls on one of the other two. But during the trial against them, young reporter Joshua Pollack notices something suspicious and decides to investigate. First, he must overcome the opposition of his boss, once a famous journalist but now lacking in enthusiasm, who fires him when he persists in wanting to continue the investigation.

The young journalist's activity soon comes into conflict with a Special Team (called FRAT) which, within the Police, seems to have full powers and a powerful cover because over the years it has managed, albeit with violent methods, to eliminate crime from the streets of the city. . When the reporter's questions get too close to the secrets behind the Squad's activity, he and his girlfriend are savagely attacked, to the point where the girl dies. Another potential accuser is eliminated in prison.

Pollack and his boss, who has meanwhile been convinced to support the young man, find support from Wallace, a policeman who does not approve of the violent methods of the Task Force. After managing to escape a second attempt to eliminate him, the journalist finally realises that the violent behaviour of the police serves to finance a shady political manoeuvre aimed at dominating the city.

One of the squad members, faced with the violence and murders of his colleagues, decides to disassociate himself from such behaviour and is also pursued by the other police officers. In a final violent shootout, he manages to save himself, the young journalist and the truth about the crime and his unsuspected protectors.

En un violento tiroteo final, logra salvarse a sí mismo, al joven periodista, y lograr que surja la verdad sobre el crimen y sus insospechados protectores.
