Coyote Ugly is a film with great music and a very successful cast.

Coyote Ugly is a romantic comedy/drama film released in August 2000. Years after its original release, Coyote Ugly has become a cult film and a fashion and cultural icon of the early 2000s.

It was filmed in 2000 and directed by David McNally and starred Piper Perabo, Adam Garcia and Maria Bello.

Precisamente se filmó en el año 2000 y fue dirigida dirigida por David McNally y protagonizada por Piper Perabo, Adam Garcia y Maria Bello.

Violet Sanford is a New Jersey girl who aspires to be a singer-songwriter, but lives with stage fright. Determined to pursue her dream, she leaves the house where she lives with her father Bill for New York. She tours the city offering her auditions but soon becomes familiar with the ruthlessness of the music scene.

One night, teased by the bartender of a nightclub, she hands over the cassette tape with her songs on it to the cook Kevin, passed off by the bartender as the owner of the nightclub. The boy at first tries to use the opportunity to approach the girl, but after a few moments, when he is mistaken by the kitchen manager, he apologises to the girl, with whom he begins to talk and make friends. Violet finds work after various vicissitudes in Lil's club called Coyote Ugly, where attractive barmaids entertain customers with sexy dances on the bar.

Violet gets carried away by that world and forgets why she came to New York. One night, as a surprise, her father shows up at the club to watch her work, but he witnesses a performance by his daughter and the other girls and after telling her he disapproves of what she is doing, he leaves.

Shortly afterwards Kevin, who in the meantime has become her boyfriend, also visits her at the bar and she turns him away, but is fired anyway because of one of the club's few rules: never bring your boyfriend to the bar. In the meantime her father is run over on his way to his workstation at the toll booth and is hospitalised. Violet makes peace with her father and looks after him during his convalescence, but always with a dream in her drawer ready to be nurtured.

She finally gets a call for a gig after hearing one of her songs, and on the night of her debut at a club where new talent is performing, thanks to the support of her former colleagues at the bar, Kevin's help and the confidence she learned at Coyote Ugly, she overcomes her fear and realises her dream of writing songs. Finally, she also manages to make peace with her boyfriend.

‘The Coyote Ugly’ is a very special bar, run by women only, that actually existed in Manhattan. The atmosphere there is full of energy and the desire to live life intensely. Only women work there, deciding for themselves how and whom to serve, and dancing on the tables when they feel like it.

Led by the tough proprietor Lil, (Maria Bello ‘Payback - Porter's Revenge’, also played Dr. Anna Dell'Amico in the TV series ‘E.R.-medics on the front line’), the Coyotes, as the enterprising barmaids are called, are always in control of the situation, and with their sexy and unscrupulous ways they warm up the atmosphere.

The protagonist is Violet ‘Jersey’ Sanford, (Piper Perabo ‘Witheboys’, ‘The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle’), a simple suburban girl with dreams of breaking into the music business. Leaving her home and her father behind, she ventures to the Big Apple in search of her big break. Thanks to Kevin, (Adam Garcia ‘Bootmen’, ‘Wilde’), a boy she meets in New York, she lands at ‘Coyote Ugly’ and learns that with determination and commitment she can succeed at anything she wants.

‘The Girls of the Coyote Ugly’ is a fun, wildly paced and exuberant comedy that throws the viewer into a breathtaking party. The messages are many, ranging from women's emancipation, which, however, deviates considerably from the feminist movement, to hope in the ‘American dream’.

The soundtrack plays an important role, as in all films produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (‘Armageddon - Final Judgement’, ‘Dangerous Thoughts’), and is composed of pieces from the 1980s, 1990s and contemporary.

Diane Warren, a well-known American singer-songwriter who has written songs for N'Sync, Gloria Estefan, Aerosmith, Ricky Martin, Faith Hill and Celine Dion, created four songs especially for the film: ‘But I do Love You’, ‘Right Kind of Wrong’, ‘Please Remember’ and ‘Can't Fight the Moonlight’.

The role of Violet was previously offered to Jessica Simpson, who turned it down.

Singer LeAnn Rimes also appears in the film, playing herself on the main track of the soundtrack, Can't Fight the Moonlight, while the first time Violet tries to sing in a club, a band is heard playing in the background: it is The Calling with Wherever You Will Go, a song that broke through in Italy almost two years later. The appearance in the film therefore took place when the group was not yet known, giving them popularity.

Other cameos in the film include Johnny Knoxville, before the success of Jackass, and Michael Bay, who plays a reporter with a camera in the film.

Violet Sanford es una chica de Nueva Jersey que aspira a ser cantautora, pero vive con miedo escénico. Decidida a perseguir su sueño, abandona la casa donde vive con su padre Bill para irse a Nueva York. Recorre la ciudad ofreciendo sus audiciones, pero pronto se familiariza con la crueldad de la escena musical.

Una noche, burlada por el camarero de un club nocturno, entrega la cinta de casete con sus canciones al cocinero Kevin, hecho pasar por el camarero por el dueño del club nocturno. El chico al principio intenta aprovechar la ocasión para acercarse a la chica, pero al cabo de unos momentos, al ser confundido por el encargado de la cocina, se disculpa con la chica, con la que empieza a hablar y a entablar amistad. Tras diversas vicisitudes, Violet encuentra trabajo en el club de Lil llamado Coyote Ugly, donde atractivas camareras entretienen a los clientes con sensuales bailes en la barra.

Violet se deja llevar por ese mundo y olvida por qué vino a Nueva York. Una noche, por sorpresa, su padre se presenta en el club para verla trabajar, pero presencia una actuación de su hija y las demás chicas y, tras decirle que desaprueba lo que está haciendo, se marcha.

Poco después, Kevin, que entretanto se ha convertido en su novio, también la visita en el bar y ella lo rechaza, pero es despedido de todos modos debido a una de las pocas normas del club: nunca lleves a tu novio al bar. Mientras tanto, su padre es atropellado cuando se dirigía a su puesto de trabajo en el peaje y es hospitalizado. Violeta hace las paces con su padre y cuida de él durante su convalecencia, pero siempre con un sueño en el cajón listo para ser alimentado.

Finalmente recibe una llamada para una actuación tras escuchar una de sus canciones, y la noche de su debut en un club donde actúan nuevos talentos, gracias al apoyo de sus antiguos compañeros del bar, la ayuda de Kevin y la confianza que aprendió en Coyote Ugly, supera su miedo y hace realidad su sueño de escribir canciones. Por último, también consigue hacer las paces con su novio.

El Coyote Ugly es un bar muy especial, regentado sólo por mujeres, que existió de verdad en Manhattan. El ambiente allí está lleno de energía y ganas de vivir la vida intensamente. Allí sólo trabajan mujeres, que deciden por sí mismas cómo y a quién servir, y bailan sobre las mesas cuando les apetece.

Lideradas por la dura propietaria Lil, (Maria Bello «Payback - La venganza de Porter», también interpretó a la doctora Anna Dell'Amico en la serie de televisión «Urgencias - médicos en primera línea»), las Coyotes, como se llama a las emprendedoras camareras, tienen siempre el control de la situación, y con sus maneras sexys y poco convencionales caldean el ambiente.

Gracias a Kevin, (Adam Garcia «Bootmen», «Wilde»), un chico que conoce en Nueva York, aterriza en «Coyote Ugly» y aprende que con determinación y empeño puede triunfar en todo lo que se proponga.

«Las chicas del Coyote Ugly» es una comedia divertida, de ritmo trepidante y exuberante que lanza al espectador a una fiesta impresionante. Los mensajes son muchos, desde la emancipación de la mujer, que, sin embargo, se aparta considerablemente del movimiento feminista, hasta la esperanza en el «sueño americano».

La banda sonora desempeña un papel importante, como en todas las películas producidas por Jerry Bruckheimer ('Armageddon - Juicio final', 'Pensamientos peligrosos'), y está compuesta por piezas de los años ochenta, noventa y contemporáneas.

Coyote Ugly really existed, Piper Perabo singing did not (she is voiced by LeAnn Rimes). It is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer in an attempt to repeat the success of his Flashdance, another uplifting urban fable to the sound of music.

The result is actually closer to Cocktail with Tom Cruise, with the worn-out theme of the young provincial hopeful in the Big Apple eating you up. The final moral is hypocritical: father and boyfriend scold the protagonist for accepting such an unseemly job, while the whole film rides (well: it's fun and sparkling) on the exaltation of the actions of the bad-girl freed from taboos, in a showcase of ethics and aesthetics in the style of ‘Non è la Rai’, which then goes back on its word.

A bit Mystic Pizza (Julia Roberts as a waitress in a New Jersey pizzeria), a bit They'll Be Famous (cited). Debut of publicist David McNally. Michael Bay plays the photographer.

Coyote Ugly existió de verdad, Piper Perabo cantando no (le pone voz LeAnn Rimes). La produce Jerry Bruckheimer en un intento de repetir el éxito de su Flashdance, otra edificante fábula urbana al son de la música.

En realidad, el resultado está más cerca de Cocktail con Tom Cruise, con el gastado tema del joven provinciano esperanzado en la Gran Manzana comiéndosela. La moraleja final es hipócrita: padre y novio regañan a la protagonista por aceptar un trabajo tan indecoroso, mientras toda la película cabalga (bueno: es divertida y chispeante) sobre la exaltación de las acciones de la chica mala liberada de tabúes, en un alarde de ética y estética al estilo de 'Non è la Rai', que luego se desdice.
