I was finally able to watch Next, a 2007 movie starring Nicolas Cage, which I had known about for a long time but never had the chance to see.
First of all, as a Nicolas Cage fan, I am not surprised by my delay in seeing the movie because there are still Nicolas Cage movies I haven't seen!
You may ask what kind of admiration is this, let me explain.
My admiration is for his unkempt hair, simply combed back, his bewildered expression with his pop-eyed gaze, his unorthodox image of a man in love, especially in City Of Angers, and the way he reflects all this in almost every role he plays.
Still, he's not the one I most admire, just one of them, and I'll leave the door open for the others.
Having special talents can be seen as valuable for many people, but since having special talents means a departure from a normal life for those who have them, they become ordinary or their existence is denied.
Mediocrity and denial is not my personal opinion; it is just what the gifted people in such movies project when they perform their roles. Acting, in other words, deception!
The situation does not change in the movie Next with Nicolas Cage as Cris. The special ability to foresee the future, but for a limited time; only for 2 minutes and only in future events that concern him!
Whoever thought of limiting such a talent to 2 minutes (in the script) deserves more scorn than praise! That was my personal opinion.
The character of Cris is very similar to the Angel Seth from the movie City Of Angers. Both of them make sacrifices for the sake of love. Angel Seth gives up his wings and Cris makes similar sacrifices.
Nicolas Cage has similar features and looks in both movies! He is good at being a fool in love, but the wings he has in one movie are missing in the other!
In similar movies where the future is seen, predicted or time traveled to the future, it is inevitable for me to make comparisons between the future and the past while watching the movie.
While there are dozens, hundreds of things that can be said about the past and evaluations such as if it hadn't been like this or if it would have been like that, the future is just curiosity! The fact that one has happened and the other will happen can explain the difference.
Next is a successful movie in the light of all these evaluations. For me, it was an addition to the Nicolas Cage movies I have seen. My admiration for Nicolas Cage remained at the same level. I wouldn't have missed much if I hadn't seen it, and when I did, I could say Nicolas Cage is Nicolas Cage.
