This innocent-looking mushroom, growing in clumps, usually on the trunks of old trees, contains toxic substances similar to those of the phalloides. It is a very poisonous mushroom and should be avoided.

The cap of this mushroom in its young form is spherical in shape, with time it becomes more convex, until it is spread out in old age. The color of the cap varies, from yellow, through sulfur-cream, orange-brown.

A mature mushroom can be about 12-15 cm in diameter. The surface of the cap is dry, smooth. During the rainy season, the tip of the hat fades and becomes lighter.

The leg can be up to 10 cm high. It is often bent, empty inside. The closer to the root, the darker it is.

The gills are quite dense and yellow in color, but when spores appear, they turn greenish, olive.

The flesh is thin. It also has a yellowish color. The taste is very bitter, the smell is slightly mushroom. The mushroom is highly poisonous!

It is one of the most common mushrooms found in forests. It appears in spring and grows until late autumn. It grows in clumps, on old trunks of deciduous trees, very rarely on conifers. Similar to buttermilk, there are also mild buttermilk and brick red buttermilk.
