Sopaipillas is a kind of bread eaten in Chile, and is made with pumpkin and spices. Pumpkin is a fruit or vegetable very versatile, with it you can prepare many dishes, sweet and salted, but for the sweets dishes you have to use spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and vanilla esence
Pumpkin are rich in nutrients and is specially used for babies porridges because they are easy to digest. This recipe is special for the little of the house and for the oldest too. I spent time cooking them because my family wanted more and more because they are very delicious. We ate them with sugar glass and white cheese if you are not vegan.
Ingredients:
- 2 to 4 cups of selfraising flour as needed
- 1 kilo of pumpkin
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla esence
- spices mixed: cinnamon, nutmeg and clove powder
- sugar glass
- cheese
- honey or any other topping to accompany the sopaipillas
Preparation:
- peel the pumpkin and cut in small pieces
- steam cook them preferably
- smash with a fork and cool
- in a bowl place all the ingredients: flour, spices, sugar and the smashed pumpkin
- mix with your hands
- add more flour if necessary
- you must obtain a non stick dough
- never add water because you won't get the desired result
- extend the dough and make circles or any shape you desire
- fry them in a very hot oil
