Today I felt like cooking for my family these calzones filled with sausages, but the problem was that I didn't have mozarella cheese. So, I decided to use a venezuelan white cheese that doesn't melt like the mozarella one, but the taste was incredible.
You prepare the dough as if you are going to make pizza, and you can fill the calzones with anything you have at home.
Ingredients for the dough:
- 500 grams of plain flour
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- salt
- 14 grams of yeast
- 1 cup of luke warm water
Preparation of dough:
- prepare the yeast with the warm water, the sugar, and wait until it doubles its size
- place the flour in a bowl and add the butter with the fingers
- add the yeast liquid
- knead the dough on a surface until it forms a soft ball
- wait until it grows
Praparing the calzones:
Place all the ingredients on the table:
- slices of red pepper
- slices of onions
- tomates without skin and cut in bits
- sausages cut in small slices
- grated cheese with 2 spoons of oregano
- mix the vegetables with 1 egg
- mix the cheese and the oregano
- divide the dough in 4 parts
- extend the dough and form a circle, they don't have to be perfect
- place the cheese, the sausages and the vegetables on one side
- sprinkle with a bit of salt
- close the calzone with the other half
- whisk one egg and spread on the calzones
- place them on a greased tray and cook in the oven for about 40 minutes
- cook them without letting them grow
