Intro
Hearing the first name can be a little confusing. Because the name of the cake is son-in-law cake. Yes it is known as son-in-law cake. However, there are differences in the name of the region. In many places it is also known as egg cake and in many places it is also known as Pakan cake. However, it is known as Jamai Pitha in Bengali language. But if it is translated into English, it is a son-in-law cake.
Different shapes and types of cakes are a part of the old culture of Bengal. Different types of cakes are arranged at different festivals or ceremonies or with the arrival of new paddy or in winter or throughout the year in every house in Bengal. Moreover, different types of cakes are made on the arrival of new guests. That is, when the son-in-law comes to the father-in-law's house, different types of cakes are made to entertain the son-in-law.
This is a very tasty cake. Even one of my very favorite cakes. Many people call this cake as son-in-law cake because it is usually given to the son-in-law.
Cakes associated with Bengali culture
The old history, culture and traditions of Bengal are intertwined with the cake. In other words, the relationship of the Bengalis with the cake is very old, that is, a thousand years old.
The culture of Bangladesh has a glorious tradition. It is the culture of Bengal that introduces us to Bengalis. Many cultures of Bengal still exist. Although many cultures we are sitting to lose. When those old cultures are still present, when we look at them, they highlight our old history.
On the festivals like Bengali New Year, Falgun i.e. arrival of spring, arrival of new guests, arrival of new son-in-law or sending cake to son-in-law's house, Bengalis get excited in the thrill of their own cultural feeling. The arrangement of all these new cakes, the arrangement of date juice and pitha-payes in winter is an important feature of the rural culture of Bengal.
Moreover, the festival of organizing pitha-puli plays a very important role in strengthening the bonds of kinship between relatives and people and building mutual harmony. Moreover, different varieties of cakes can be seen in different regions. Usually different types of cakes are made in different regions or the same cake is called by different names in different regions. In rural areas, cakes are usually made after the new paddy has been harvested. During the winter and Poush festivals, cakes are made in every house in Bengal. However, the culture of making cakes to feed new relatives is most seen.
About this cake
A few days ago, one of my cousins got married. These cakes were given to them by my cousin's father-in-law. Usually these cakes were made by his mother-in-law to feed the son-in-law and to send to the son-in-law's house and sent the cakes as soon as the son-in-law arrived. Then my aunt gave us some cakes at home. These are really very tasty cakes to eat. One of my favorite cakes.
