I had a pretty good day today. I woke up at 7 and went on a walk at around 8:30 or so and I had a good breakfast.
I usually do not eat rice for breakfast but today I just wanted to eat something full and not worry about my weight or my calorie intake.
I ordered Pulao and it was yummy!
Pulao is a dish that is made with rice and a few spices. It has a few less spices than a Biriyani but it is tasty and spicy.
Do I like Pulao? It is not my favourite food but I enjoy eating it. To be honest I love eating food. It can be anything and it can be from any country and I will eat it.
But there are always a few favorites,l. I love Vada more than any other Indian dish and I call myself an expert on Vada. I have spent hours and days searching for the best Vada in every city I have lived and I enjoy it almost everyday.
But today I just wanted to try something other than a Vada so I ordered a plate full of Pulao rice.
We South Indians eat a lot of rice and we have many dishes that are unique to us.
Some of the famous South Indian rice dishes are Idly, Chitranna, Puliyogare, Masuranna or Curd Rice and just plan white boiled rice with a generous helping of clarified butter.
Ah! I'm getting hungry thinking of these dishes. My favourite from the above list is the Curd Rice and I love it.
It is a simple dish with curd and rice with a bit of tempering that includes Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Curry leaf and a big dried green chilly.
It is just divine!
