Good day everyone! Can you help me greet my sister on her birthday today? 😀
By the way, I want to share you some Filipino foods that we prepare for her birthday celebration.
"Adobong Pusit"(Squid Adobo)
Adobong Pusit is a tasty squid dish cooked using the popular Filipino adobo method. Squid is first boiled in soy sauce and vinegar then later sautéed in garlic, onions and tomatoes; this brings in an awesome array of flavors that will surely activate your taste buds. I like this dish because of its rich flavor, it also brings-in a sense of nostalgia which reminds me of the good times that I had when I was still home.
"Lechon Manok" (Roast Chicken)
Lechon manok basically is the roast chicken of the Philippines but it’s quite unique as it is flavoured differently and cooked in a charcoal spit. Like any roast it is stuffed but the stuffing on lechon manok is not to be consumed but rather give a distinct flavour and aroma to the chicken. I guess most of the Filipinos living in the Philippines would never make this at home as it is readily available everywhere at any store.
"Bam-i" (Filipino Noodle)
Bam-I is type of noodle dish that originated from Cebu. Bam-I might have the same ingredients with other noodle dishes like Pancit Canton, Pancit Bihon, and Sotanghon Guisado, but the combination of flour sticks and vermicelli noodles makes this noodle dish unique. If I were to describe it, I will say that Bam-I is a combination of Pancit Canton and Sotanghon Guisado with a twist.
"Embutido"
Embutido is a type of meatloaf prepared Filipino style. My version (or should I say my Mom’s 🙂 ) focuses more on giving this dish the wonderful taste and aroma that can’t be found in commercialized Embutido. You can serve this as a cold cut or you can even fry it after steaming. Do whatever you want but don’t forget to put the Banana Catsup on the side.
"Escabeche"
Escabeche is a dish which is typically made from fish or meat that is marinated and/or cooked in vinegar and some spices. In the Philippines, however, it refers specifically to sweet and sour fish, wherein the fish is first fried and then soaked or marinated in the sweet and sour sauce.
"Leche Flan"
So, here are our two desserts. Leche Flan is the ultimate sweet treat! Rich, smooth, and creamy with golden caramel topping, this classic Filipino custard is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Leche Flan is a dessert made-up of eggs and milk with a soft caramel on top. It resembles crème caramel and caramel custard. This delicious dessert is known throughout the world. It has been a regular item in the menu of most restaurants because of its taste, ease in preparation and long shelf life. It can also be added as a component to build other great tasting dessert creations.
"Oreo Cake"
A birthday celebration is not complete without cake. My sister choose this cake because it is delicious for her.
