2 tBs butter
5 cups shredded red cabbage
1 cup chopped green apples
1/3 cup apple vinegar
3 tBs water
1/4 cup sugar
2 1/4 tSp salt (teaspoon)
1/4 tSp black pepper
1/4 tSp ground cloves
Place cabbage, butter, apples,and sugar in a large pot. Pour in the vinegar and other ingredients.
Bring to a boil over medium heat and then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer until the cabbage is tender. About 1 1/2 to 2 hours will do it.
