Sambal is a kind of tradition in my country so some dishes won’t eaten without sambal, like what we had recently.
This one called empal penyet (smashed traditional cooked beef in chilli paste). Originally the beef had sweet savory flavour while the chilli paste had the spicy, savory and sweet flavour.
Next we had was tempe penyet (smashed fried tempeh in chilli paste). This one also served with chilli paste. It had light savory flavour and blended well with its’ chilli paste.
Do you also have authentic chilli paste in your country?
