I love attending parties. Especially the kind of parties that our relatives host. A super duper pinoy party because we know it will have our favorite Filipino food. We Filipinos love to feast, any small reason to celebrate, we go all out and have a feast.
Lechon and Pansit are two of our main dishes in Filipino feasts and that is what I want to feature now. we recently had a family gathering in my aunt's house. My aunt just wanted us to have a new year reunion in her house, she wanted us to have a potluck kind of event but she wanted to host the venue and cook most of the food. She even bought the lechon and made a huge pan of pansit.
Lechon is a big ass grilled whole pork that's cooked for 4-5 hours over burning charcoal. It has to be turned non-stop so it is cooked evenly. On the other hand, pansit is a noodle dish with a lot of veggies and pieces of pork and liver, seafoods and everything on it. It symbolizes long life and has to be present in all events because that's a Filipino favorite.
This combo of lechon and pansit plus a big pot of rice should be good enough for a Pinoy like me. If you brought in desserts, that would just be cherry on top of all this goodness of a heavy meal that's litson-pansit combo.
Yan ang foods na always present sa mga handaan ng mga pinoy
