Indonesia has an abundant supply of coconuts. Even though my coconut tree has been cut down because it almost fell on my house, I can still easily get supplies of coconut in the area where I live.
I am very grateful to be able to get a supply of fresh coconut. As a food content creator, I find coconut really helps me in many ways.
As a Powerful Ingredient
In general, coconut is made into coconut milk. Coconut milk then becomes a powerful ingredient. It can be a substitute for milk as well as an egg substitute for some cake recipes. So you could say coconut milk or coconut itself is vegan-friendly and delicious too.
From food to beverage, coconut will create a distinct twist to any of those recipes. Starting from the texture to the aroma, to be able to become a sauce for a unique but delicious dressing.
So I am very grateful to be able to get fresh coconut stock which is very useful to increase the value of the food and drinks I make, especially as a food blogger.
Creating Unique Plating
Coconut fruit with its hard shell can become characteristic in the plating process, and the plating will later create good vibes for the food itself.
I do a lot of plating using coconut as a place to serve food. Not limited to old coconut, but also with young coconut. Starting from side dishes to desserts.
Below some of my plating using coconut:
Using Coconut Shells as Coconut Bowls
I don't stop using coconut as ingredients and also plating, I also use coconut shells for coconut bowls.
I made my coconut bowl and I often use it for food shoots.
If you are interested in how I make a coconut bowl, you can read it on my blog at Simplify Life with Vegan Bowls.
I use a coconut bowl, usually for serving smoothies like the below picture:
But of the many things that I am grateful for with coconut, I also often get serious injuries because of coconut. Coconut fruit has sharp "powder" on the outside of its hard shell, so it can stab into the skin of the hands without us knowing it. I once had to undergo surgery on my finger because of the coconut shell powder left on my finger. But that doesn't matter at all. I just need to be more careful next time.
