"Matcha" is a drink made by powdering green tea and pouring hot water into it.

The traditional method of boiling water, making tea, and serving guests is called "tea ceremony." It is said that Sen no Rikyu (1522-1591) completed the style, and there are many tea ceremony schools in modern Japan as well.

Matcha is very astringent, so in the tea ceremony, it is served with Japanese sweets, and there are also manners in how to eat sweets. However, in recent years, "Matcha" has become more casual and has come to be used in Western confectionery as one of the ingredients.

These pictures you are looking at are the menus of a cafe created by a traditional teahouse that originated in Kyoto. Matcha affogato, Mont Blanc, parfait, soft serve ice cream. The quality of the matcha used is high, and its bitterness goes very well with the cream.

Matcha is very popular with tourists visiting Japan. Perhaps because of that, such ice cream and matcha sweets are also very popular. You can also find lots of matcha sweets at convenience stores.

Thank you very much. I'm also a fan of matcha desserts, but the source of these popularity was the enthusiastic support of foreigners visiting Japan. I am happy to be able to enjoy the same food with people from other countries.
