Dance is an expression of the innermost feeling of the heart. There may be several reasons why people dance. In modern times, dance occupies the heart of men, it has been a unifying factor.
During my growing up years, I was opportune to witness different kinds of dances which came as a result of the situation changes over time.
My first attempt at dance was at breaking dance. Then, I had watched the Michael Jackson #moonwalk on television. It was at that moment I chose to love dance. My passion increased and I stopped at nothing to get involved in street dancing lessons.
Since my passion had developed to such an extent, I joined my college miming group where we represent my school and won several medals. Despite all these, my cravings never stopped. The history of those dance steps were not solid so they didn't last up to a decade before they went into extinction. You wonder, right? Some dance steps are no longer relevant in our time.

How I Discover Egwu Mmanwu

Dance of the masquerade is popular among the Igbo people of eastern Nigeria. The dance came as a result of the need to create a security network for the dwellers of communities.

This dance is more or less a dance that exhibits the nature and tradition of the people. Only men are initiates of the dance group. Each time the dance group is brought to the public, the beating of #Ogene drums rant the walls and waves of the atmosphere shakes in rhythm that bring community dwellers together in the square where people dance away their sorrows.

The dance step is fierce in nature. You know, as in war time, everyone looks focus and eyeball to eyeball.

The first time I went to see the Mmanwun dance was when we travelled home during the yuletide season. People from the diaspora also came to watch the popular masquerade dance.
Since then, no other dance steps matter to me like this.
Most Igbo origin music are written in the tune of this dance step. Great Igbo musicians like #OliverDeCoque #MoroccoMaduka and many that cannot be mentioned now coined the #Mmanwu dance steps into their music.

How To Dance Mmanwu Dance

You can try this step, it is easy to learn. The first time I tried it, it was fun, I never stopped dancing to it.

Stand with your legs spread sideways.
Move either to the front and one to the back.
Raise your one hand up like you are about to cut something.
The other hand, I like to accept a gift.
Move forward or backward steadily

With the above, you have learned the Mmanwu dance.
This is my favourite dance and it is taking the world by surprise.
However, you should note that the dance is a cultural dance and it is believed have been with people for over two centuries.
An average Igbo man have the believe that the dance created other form dance.
