I purchased my Redmi note 9 in August of last year, and it has been a pleasant experience thus far. I haven't had any issues with the device in the 4-5 months that I've had it.
I received notification from my phone a few days ago that the Oxygen 12 upgrade is available for my phone. I was a little bummed that the Redmi note 9 didn't come with the Color OS, but business is business.
The upgrade was approximately 4GB in size, and it took less than 10 minutes to finish after downloading. I rejected the phone's request to backup files and upgraded nonetheless. After the upgrade, I didn't lose any files.
For whatever that's worth, this phone is still due for another Android upgrade, so the Color OS may be included in the next one. If that doesn't work out, an Oxygen 13 Android upgrade will suffice.
The difference
I've observed various changes in the phone while upgrading from Android 11 to Android 12.
A minor display tweak that you'll only notice if you've had the phone for a long time or are one of those phone nerds.
The camera is much faster in processing photographs.
The front camera includes a white outline that brightens up photographs.
The images appear to be a little more processed than they were before the upgrade.
Gives some selfies an unnaturally bright appearance.
The same can be said for images taken in natural light.
When you tap the screen, the touch pad emits a pop sound. It can be turned on and off.
I've had problems with Whatsapp notifications, but locking and unlocking the screen fixes the problem.
So far, everything has worked out well.
Overall, it has been a positive experience for me. I used to be quite scared about it, but not anymore. The phone has benefited from the upgrade in a variety of ways.
The phone's performance has improved marginally, with programs running smoother and the camera and other system apps boosting faster.
My phone now has the most recent version of Android and is good for another year of use.
Overall, it's a well-designed gadget that provides excellent performance at a lower cost than mainstream phones such as Samsung's and Google's Pixel. You can always obtain a One Plus 9 and update to Android 12 if you can't afford the current One Plus 10. You won't miss out on anything, and you'll save a lot of money.
