Soy una persona sin ningún tipo de ritmo, al menos así es como me he percibido con los años porque nunca se me ha dado bailar naturalmente, sí he notado que después de que empecé a levantar pesas y hacer ejercicios de estiramiento mi cuerpo ganó movilidad en mayor soltura para realizar ciertos movimientos que antes me costaban pero sigo sin esa necesaria coordinación, pero esto no me ha impedido disfrutar de la música bailando de la mejor manera que encuentre, porque he entendido simplemente debería enfocarme en ser feliz mientras lo hago así sea un desastre. Es por eso que me animé a participar sobre mi danza preferida, dándome la oportunidad de pensar un poco sobre aquellas danzas en las cuales alguna vez me he perdido mirando por diversas razones.
Greetings to all members of the community, how are you? I am a person without any kind of rhythm, at least that's how I have perceived myself over the years because I have never been given to dance naturally, yes I have noticed that after I started lifting weights and doing stretching exercises my body gained mobility in greater fluency to perform certain movements that previously cost me but still without that necessary coordination, but this has not prevented me from enjoying the music dancing the best way I find, because I have understood I should simply focus on being happy while doing it even if it's a disaster. That's why I was encouraged to participate about my favorite dance, giving me the opportunity to think a little about those dances in which I have ever lost myself watching for various reasons.
La salsa es un género musical que se escucha mucho aquí en mi país y se encuentra presente en cada una de las reuniones posibles, se ha convertido a decir verdad en una cuestión cultural pasada de generación en generación ese disfrute de esta música como parte de la cotidianidad, puedes escucharla por cualquier lugar, desde autobuses públicos hasta supermercados con una calidad de sonido que deja demasiado espacio para preguntarse si verdaderamente es necesario utilizar esos volúmenes insanos si se va a escuchar tan terrible, pero allí está, siempre presente. He allí la razón de que el saber bailar salsa se convierta en casi una necesidad social dentro de las reuniones pues se vuelve una manera de relacionarse entre sí además de conversar, la música y la danza son formas de expresión después de todo.
Salsa is a musical genre that is heard a lot here in my country and is present in every possible meeting, it has become a cultural issue passed from generation to generation that enjoyment of this music as part of everyday life, you can hear it anywhere, from public buses to supermarkets with a sound quality that leaves too much room to wonder if it is really necessary to use those insane volumes if you are going to hear it so terrible, but there it is, always present. That is the reason why knowing how to dance salsa has become almost a social necessity in meetings, it becomes a way of relating to each other as well as conversing, music and dance are forms of expression after all.
La razón por la que me gusta es precisamente esa, siendo una de las constantes dentro de las formas sociales de mi país que te permite conectar con un número amplio de personas dentro de las reuniones, pues resulta difícil para mí que me sea indiferente, sin mencionar que de por sí la salsa es uno de mis géneros favoritos con mi agrupación favorita la de Los Adolescentes guiado por el magnífico compositor cuyo nombre es Porfi Baloa y que ha revolucionado el género desde hace décadas a través de sus arreglos, contando con la participación de personalidades de la música, como Oscar D’Leon. Les voy a compartir para que puedan apreciar un poco de lo que hablo, una de mis composiciones preferidas llamada ‘Clase social’ en su versión interpretada justo por Oscar D’Leon con su voz privilegiada cargada de sabor.
The reason why I like it is precisely that, being one of the constants within the social forms of my country that allows you to connect with a large number of people within the meetings, it is difficult for me to be indifferent, not to mention that in itself salsa is one of my favorite genres with my favorite group Los Adolescentes guided by the magnificent composer whose name is Porfi Baloa and has revolutionized the genre for decades through its arrangements, with the participation of personalities of music, such as Oscar D'Leon. Para los latinos es difícil no sentir esta música pero también a los extranjeros se les hace contagiosa. Hay muchas formas de bailar salsa con diferentes combinaciones de pasos dependiendo de cada país, aunque hay unos básicos con los que se puede jugar agarrando ritmo con la canción en específico, al final todo se trata de que se sienta la música y es una de las maravilla de este baila que tanto me gusta, siéntelo en el cuerpo, independientemente de qué tanta coordinación aquí a la gente no le importará siempre que te vean disfrutándolo la mayoría del tiempo. Entre mis familiares y amigos tengo un chiste que es que solamente conozco unos pasos que son los que uso para todo y en realidad estos son de salsa en principio, pero para mí combinan con todo por eso no me importa usarlos en cada oportunidad posible divirtiéndome.
For Latinos it is difficult not to feel this music but also for foreigners it is contagious. There are many ways to dance salsa with different combinations of steps depending on each country, although there are some basic ones that you can play with to get the rhythm with the specific song, in the end it is all about feeling the music and that is one of the wonders of this dance that I like so much, feel it in your body, regardless of how much coordination here people will not care as long as they see you enjoying it most of the time. Among my family and friends I have a joke that I only know a few steps that are the ones I use for everything and actually these are salsa steps in principle, but for me they go with everything so I don't mind using them at every possible opportunity while having fun.
Creo que en este video se puede apreciar claramente lo que es el bailar salsa desprendiéndose de las estructuras rígidas que pueden estar presentes por cuestión de formalismos en tipos como la salsa de exhibición. Esto es expresión, entrar en conexión con nuestro cuerpo moviéndolo libremente sintiendo al máximo la música, mostrando esa pasión por una cultura arraigada en nosotros que siempre hemos querido compartir con el mundo porque esta alegría que transmite debe compartirse. Me gustaría saber si les llama la atención este baile, si alguna vez han tenido contacto con este y han visto a alguien bailándola en persona como se ve aquí con total libertad sobre los pasos así como el ritmo. Muchos extranjeros piensan que se necesita demasiado para bailarla, sin embargo, creo que todos tenemos la posibilidad de hacerlo.
I believe that in this video you can clearly appreciate what salsa dancing is by getting rid of the rigid structures that may be present for formalism in types such as exhibition salsa. This is expression, entering in connection with our body moving it freely feeling the music to the fullest, showing that passion for a culture rooted in us that we have always wanted to share with the world because this joy that transmits must be shared.
