I think you get less of a return if you just vote with your own stake. I delegate once and then worked out the figures and took it back
I didn't calc transaction fees so you might be on to something!

If your stake is under 3000 then the transaction fees are more than your vote so we thought of just delegating it.
Tomoyan has a voting trail that we follow. We give 100% of our votes and we recieve random votes between 10-70 Blurt.
The delegation and the voting trail works perfectly for us.
