THE WOMAN KING, a movie produced is 2022 tells the story of a West African Kingdom named Dahomey (present day Benin) whose new King and citizens are threatened by their enemies, the Oyo people who haven joined forces with the Mahi people, seek to raid and capture the Dahomey and sell them into slavery.

While the Oyo and Mahi people rely on horses and the guns they buy from the Europeans as advantages, the Dahomey people resort to the strength of the ‘Agojie’ (an elite force of fearless female military regiment).

It may interest you to know that THE WOMAN KING was inspired by true events.

It is the best movie I’ve seen this year and I’m recommending it to all and sundry.
