These writings are my own daily thoughts of short passages from the Bible. Follow along and keep me active in writing everyday. Maybe we will make it through the whole Bible.

Hebrews 3:1-6

This passage begins, "Therefore fix your thoughts on Jesus." It is interesting that it didn't say "heart" or "mind" or "actions" but thoughts. So many thoughts race through our head throughout the day. Can we really fix our thoughts on anything? Every second as we walk and work in this world our thoughts are racing even while we are unaware.

There are some thoughts of anger or rage, thoughts of lust and violence, those thoughts circle around the world. They are thoughts of unfaithfulness and immorality. These thoughts knock down the believer who wants to live in the grace of God. But the believer should never think that these thoughts have control over him or her.

The "therefore" in this passage comes after knowing the grace and mercy of God's salvation. This grace of knowing Jesus is more powerful than any those thoughts that flow through our mind. The grace we have as children of the heavenly kingdom is a grace based in the promise of God. It is a grace to know that we are brothers and sisters and Since we are saved and our sins our atoned and we share a heavenly calling, we should fix our thoughts on Jesus. We are easily distracted in this world, but when we focus our thoughts on Jesus we can clearly see God's grace. When we look at our high priest and apostle send from God we are strengthened. We are not faithful by nature, but he is faithful.

Just as Moses was faithful in God's house, our savior Jesus is faithful as high priest. Tee temple Jesus himself and those who believe in Jesus. Moses was faithful servant of the temple, but Jesus is faithful as Son over God's house. When we look at Jesus we see that we are being built into a spiritual house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.

Thank God for Jesus who saves us and stands as our apostle and high priest who intercedes for us. His service as high priest is perfect so when we fix our eyes on Jesus we can purify our minds. We see Jesus who loves us and gave his life for us. When we study Luke's gospel we see Jesus who is beautiful as a servant of God unsurpassed by anyone in history today or in the past. When we fix our eyes on Jesus we see Jesus full of grace and faithful and we can see beyond the difficulties and troubles of the word and see God's hope. The world is full of temptations, but I pray to fix my thoughts on Jesus and see his beauty, grace and mercy.

Passage Hebrews 3:1-6
1 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.
2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.
3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
5 "Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house," bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future.
6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.
