Prometheus: Still Alive || Mythological Mystery

Prometheus is probably the most humanist among the Greek gods. Prometheus and his brother Epimetheus were two gods of Titan descent. They were instructed to collect all the materials necessary for human survival. They both did that.

Prometheus, meanwhile, taught people to be straight at walking. And when felt the need of fire for human civilization, Prometheus stole it from heaven and brought it to earth.

The god Zeus became angry for stealing fire from heaven. As punishment, Prometheus was imprisoned on a hill and an eagle was sent everyday.

The eagle came at night and nimbled the liver of Prometheus. The pecking created much pain. Next morning the blood of Prometheus made into a new liver. And the next night again the eagle came and nimbled liver. Thus the punishment was to be continued.

Later, however, Hercules came and freed Prometheus from the curse of the eagle.

Although the phenomenon of Greek mythology, written in poetry, it has a lot examples in reality. I always be amazed while reading the characters of Greek Mythology and match them with this time. How much creativity and foresight of the authors had!

The case of Prometheus is a perfect example. Prometheus resemble to all the great leader of this planet. Time to time many great human beings have been born on earth who have sacrificed themselves to liberate humanity. They taught people like Prometheus to stand up straight. Taught to live with head held high.

Just as Prometheus stole fire from heaven and enlightened the earth, so did those great men enlighten our society with the light of civilization by accepting infinite sacrifices.

History has shown time and again that they couldn't enjoy the light, but had to accept the dark confinement. If we talk about Nelson Mandela, the great leader, spent almost his entire life in prison. Or about Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest hero of our liberation struggle, at the precious youth he spent almost 14 years in the darkness of prison.

It should be mentioned that innumerable other such great heroes have suffered immensely by sacrificing for the freedom of different countries, nations and societies. The outcome of their sacrifices is facilitating people of the world for ages.

We may talk about our language soldiers or freedom fighters also. Like Prometheus, they went in search of light. As a result, the rulers like Zeus have inflicted cruel oppression on them.

Many crippled freedom fighters who are still alive in our country. They are bearing the scars of liberation war on their body and mind. They dedicated their youth for the sake of this country. The country has achieved independence, the new generation has got a readymade potential country. But what they got was sore wounds like Prometheus.

The world is still enlightened because of existing some people like Prometheus throughout the ages.
