Material cost and labour cost has to to be maintained with a specified ratio for any specific task. But nowadays I can see a huge difference in material cost and the labour cost or maintenance cost. I don't know what is the basic reason behind this difference. But from my personal experience I just want to mention a couple of key factors which may be the reason behind this change.
Background
Why I am talking this issues today. This is because of the experience I have faced recently. In my early days like in childhood I would like to see different development activities like developing pond are buildings. In that time I can recall that for about 400 thousand amount of development work it needed about 50000 labour work. The ratio is just above 10%. Which was pretty good because in that time the labour cost was low. But now when I want to do some such kind of development work sometimes the labour cost reaches beyond the manufacturing cost are material cost. The ratio is sometimes more than 50%. Being a responsible person in my college I need to do some such kind of development and maintenance work and during that time I have experienced this change and that's why I am suggesting couple of reason here in this blog. I shall discuss on couple of key factors which I have faced from my surrounding and that will be from my experience
Technological Development
With the advancement of Technology the cost of manufacturing has been reduced sharply. For this reason we can have various kind of manufacturing related elements tools machineries at reasonable price compared with the previous situation. So when the cost of product is being reducing ultimately the ratio will increase compared with the the labour cost. This is the first reason I have experienced.
Attitude towards work
Second one is a vital issue because this is happening around me not in the other countries I hope. In Bangladesh the people are pretty much solvent now. Couple of decades back then need to two find for food shelter cloth. But in general now there is no shortage of such kind of elements of daily needs to survive. A huge number of people are working abroad and earning foreign remittance that's why the family member of that person is leading a lazy life by just spending those money without doing any work. With the technological advancement the agricultural system and work has been changed a lot. That's why the number of people working physical labour has been reduced dramatically. So now I can see it is really difficult to find out the active worker who will do the work with some physical labour. Those who can work more as huge demand nowadays. This is because of the shortage of working people who really can work more. There are huge number of people jobless but they don't have ability to do such kind of physical levar based work. This is the instance we are facing now a days while going for any sort of work like development or maintenance. If it continues we will not find quality or a skilled people for any specific job in near future because a huge number of people are being skill less day by day. So we need to initiate suspend of program so that people are being interested to work physical labour based work. I think there is nothing to lose with physical labour because it is an exercise for our body as well. By spending lazy life we are also hampering our health which will encourage a huge number of cost for medicine in the distant future as well and it is high time to think about this issue.
