Hi guys! My new painting. I draw a woman in a pub. Process
Material: acrylic, canvas.
This is the big picture. then I will take a photo with the picture so that you can look at the size)
The first thing I start with is a pencil sketch, then I draw on a canvas, paint underpaints with a dark color, then I work on the whole picture.
I need underpainting to see the borders. When you paint a big picture, you need to step back to understand whether you are drawing evenly, proportions. Since the picture is large, you need to move away often. But when you have already drawn the underpainting much easier, you have already drawn the boundaries, measured the proportions. Therefore, everything will be equal. It will only be necessary to move away from the picture to look at the overall picture, the combination of colors, the location of light and shadow. Although when I paint underpainting, I already outline the shadow with a dark color. Well, it is clear that where there is no shadow there will be light)
Here is a little advice on how it is more convenient to paint big pictures from me)
Pencil sketch.
I always draw a sketch with a pencil. I don't even need to draw underpainting.
But I can't do it without a pencil sketch, I'm not comfortable. I do not see the grid, I have to move away from the canvas every time to assess where to write and what. But with the sketch, I see the placement and it's easier for me.
The next stage of underpainting. But I can skip this step and paint without underpainting.
At this stage, the background.
