Tintagel in Cornwall

My next visit whilst in Cornwall was Tintagel. We got a pocket of sun thankfully to enjoy outside of the rain and grey skies.

Tintagel or Trevena is a civil parish and village. Tintagel Castle, built in the 5th to the 7th century AD to serve as an important stronghold, and is associated with the legends surrounding King Arthur. It is said that he was born there with the help of Merlin. You can see a reconstruction of how the castle might have looked on the English Heritage site https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/tintagel-castle/history-and-legend/medieval-1240/.

We didn't visit the actual castle (you can see the ruins on the top of the hill) but we went down to the beach at the foot of the hill and into the villiage. One of the caves on the beach is supposedly Merlins cave.

This is a hotel and art gallery just a few streets away from the castle. Sadly we couldn't go in cause of Covid and Lockdown. Maybe next time.
