Big change for me a-happenin’. I have volunteered my services for a year as first ever Artist/administrator-in-residence at the Art Association of Oswego. 4 days and 32 hours a week. Now I have a big job that doesn’t pay in dollars, however, some buzz inside me says I’ll be richer by the end of it. Half the time is spent painting, the other half as secretary/administrator, keeping the doors open to visitors, grant writing, fundraising, answering phone, cleaning toilets... Here are some paintings from the first week. All on unstretched canvas. The last paintings (the up and down) were made during an Instagram Live trying to get the world to donate for a new floor in the Kirk Beason Gallery. Three hours of talking to fans while painting from the gut. Not a dollar to the fund. Well, one must keep trying. The money goes directly to the Art Association of Oswego, a nonprofit arts and culture institution in a dead town that I vow to make into the greatest art haven in the history of shoreline Lake Ontario.
