Drunken painting.
Here is a small Oil painting I did on 8 x 10 canvas. I usually paint with a glass of Whisky in one hand ....
It is of the dense dark fall colours along the Rideau River in Canada. I paint watercolours from my kayak and then later make larger oil paintings from those. This is from a photo I took in the kayak looking back at the shore.
Some Digital Blending after effects....
Here is the Timelapse Video :
These are the steps in my Painting Process...
Step1: Pour a drink.
Step 1 1/2: Start with a burnt Siena under painting on the canvas.
Step 2: Add the colours of the maples, birch and sumac using a lot of oil on my brush.
Step 3: begin to add the darker greens and shadows of the coniferous trees.
Step 4: Add the pale blue sky along the top of the painting and between the trees.
Some details of the brush work. I practice painting quickly so that I am able to paint from the kayak while being eaten by mosquitoes and black flies.
This is a photo of my small studio set up. I’m painting from an original photograph I took with my phone on the Rideau River.
The final painting is almost abstract.

I really like this painting! and not just because I grew up in the township of Rideau lakes :p
Hey ... that’s awesome. This is near Manotick .... I think only Canadians like my paintings.
Nope. I like them too and I'm -1% Canadian 😂
Thank you very much.
