Good morning everyone,
This morning I bring to you my recent drawing which I titled "The tale of Aina". The drawing shows a lady with with african threading hairstyle on her head and with some kind of rope on her neck. Now that has a significant meaning. Let me bring you on the tale of Aina.
In Yoruba tribe, some children are born with difficulties just like it happens all around. But Yoruba people like to note those kind of things and they tend to give them specific names which define the kind of difficulty the baby brought while he/she is being born. Aina is an example of such name. Aina is a name giving to a baby that has its umbilical cord wrapped round it's neck while being born therefore making the birth difficult. Once the name is giving to the child from birth, that's the name the child keeps bearing for life.
I don't know if I should praise or condemn this because I can't imagine telling everyone the kind of birth I came to this world through. Actually, it's a normal thing to do and people don't really care about it although it's not a must practice and it's tending to fade now. It's all comes to the parents of the child if they wish to give such name to their child.
This is the inspiration behind my drawing and there you have the tale of Aina. The drawing was done on Autodesk Sketchbook using primary pencil only on black background.
