In my art collection, Phantasmagoria, are two digital surrealism paintings that have the same elements: a woman, a buterfly, and flowers. The collection aims to tackle the blur between dreams and reality, and life in general.
The first artwork in the collection also follows the name Phantasmagoria. It is characterized by a blue butterfly and bluebells.
Phantasmagoria
A butterfly generally represents life. In Filipino culture, whenever a beautiful and huge butterfly happens across a person, that means a late loved one visits him. A butterfly would seem like a container to afterlife and is often the subject of fantastical imagery. On the other hand, a bluebell often symbolizes humility and gratitude. Sometimes, spirituality.
This piece is about finding beauty in oneself, and claiming it. Often, we forget just how beautiful we can be, going as far as pegging our standards of beauty into just the physical. This first piece in the Phantasmagoria collection is about the humbling experience of accepting what beauty we have, and living in it.

Phantasmagoria, in detail
Painting this work was a very relaxing endeavor. I got to explore whatever methods I could to come up with an image that I thought fit the context. The glow wasn't exactly accidental, but it wasn't heavily planned, either. It was a blur-of-the-moment decision to add it, and I thought it fit just right.
Notes
I do my drawings on Note 10+ with MediBang Paint for Android. Further polishing -- comprising the textured brush background, glow, and noise -- was implemented on Adobe Photoshop.
I'd be interested to know what part of the painting you liked (or not liked). Let me know in the comments?
