In Silence

Noise irritates me. It gets on my nerves like bad eggs in an otherwise beautiful morning. It makes me want to lock myself in my room and just settle there for ages. But something even more irritating is an eerie, almost disturbing silence. Quiet moments you'll just want to curse forever because it is suddenly your brain that makes the most noise.

In Silence

If there really is a thing like survivor's guilt, then I probably basked in it for some 24 hours on November 14th. Maybe, I still do. I survived a devastating storm, but many did not. In the middle of the night, in the middle of an ocean of dirty, muddy floodwater, hundreds of people screamed and clamored for immediate help.

Some received rescue. A couple of others didn't. And in silence in between 24 hours, it was their voices that I heard.

In Silence on NFT Showroom

An Art for a Cause

In Silence is all about the voices of the victims of the consecutive typhoons that wreaked havoc in the Philippines. It is minted into 1 edition of NFT artwork on NFT Showroom. Proceeds from this artwork and the following crypto artworks I will mint will go to Kaya Natin! Movement, a non-profit and non-government organization that has spearheaded donation drives for the victims.

I might not have been able to do anything about the voices clamoring for help that one night, but I hope to be able to give whatever I can in this time of need.

In Silence, in detail

Whenever I feel like there is a lot going on in my art, I like providing closeup shots. An art looks more alive in its complete picture, but there is still a lot of story to tell in the little details.

Notes

I don't usually rally my thoughts -- not even in conventional social media -- but this once, through this post, I want to create awareness to current goings-on in my country. Many Filipinos lost their homes, sources of livelihood, and even lives. It is without a doubt that many groups are working 24/7 to help the victims rise up again, but a little more help can drive vast changes.

If you're from the Philippines, in-kind donations are the most welcome, but financial aids are also just as appreciated. For both local and international donations, you may check the Kaya Natin! donation page for options.

That's it. This post has become longer than I intended, but I'm glad to be able to put out here all important stuff that I wanted to share. If you have any comments, questions, and just general conversation-starters, let me know in the comments!
