Do what is right; process and creativity exploitation / Haz el bien, proceso y explotación creativa.

One of the firsts projects of my last semester, and the first creativity exploitation that we’ll live in the rest of the studies.
Being the beginning of the semester, we thought I could be a simple task (or what we thought would be something “simple”)

We started working with a phrase that they would choose for us, making 48 different sketches about this (perfect, we start the semester and they already ask us an inhuman creativity -_-).

Uno de los primeros proyectos de mi semestre anterior, y el primer golpe creativo que se vive de el resto de los estudios.
Siendo uno de los primeros trabajos, inicio siendo algo simple (o lo que se suponía que debía ser “simple”)
Comenzamos desarrollando una frase que ellos nos escogen, teniendo que entregar 48 bocetos diferentes de este (perfecto comienza el semestre y ya nos piden creatividad inhumana).

The phrase that they gave me was a famous one “do what is right, come what may”. Something that could make everything easy … or kind of complicated if we have to tell that we were not suppose to use the phrase as the common perspective.

Well creativity is creativity, the requirement was that it had to go out of the ordinary idea, and every sketch had to be different from each other (come on, just make the student throw every inch of creativity they have… trust me, in the seventh idea you can hear your brain screaming just to be get the littles ideas)

La frase que me toco fue una de las más oídas “has el bien sin mirar a quien”. Algo que podría facilitar las cosas en algunos casos… o complicarlas si es una frase que no te gusta seguir (creo que a pocos les toco una frase en que ellos estaban de acuerdo).

Bueno, creatividad es creatividad… el requisito era que tenía que ser bocetos con ideas y desarrollos diferentes entre ellos; así como que la mayoría de estos no debía ser el contexto común en que la gente las usan (vamos que estos muchachos tienen que sacar hasta la última gota de imaginación que contengan… créanme, a la séptima idea ya puedes oír como tu cerebro sufre para sacar la mas misera cosa).

I wanted to make an illustration that could take this to a more realistic point; though it was kind of complicated. At first the most I was able to get was: help to animals, to children and the symbiosis in the nature environment (a quite low beginning I know). But after some time, I got a great and interesting idea, and one I like a lot.

Opuesto a lo que la mayoría piensa de esta frase, mis bocetos no eran de ayuda a los vagabundos (honestamente, lo menos que quería era acercarme a este cliché de la infancia). Queria acercarme a un punto de vista más realista, o al menos al que me podría sentir un poco mas identificada.

Al principio lo más que podía pensar era en ayuda a los animales, a niños, o en la simbiosis que existe en la naturaleza (un comienzo muy pobre, lo sé). Aunque luego pude ver la frase de una manera más interesante, y que personalmente me encanto.

While many could think the phrase as give the hand or help the poor. The word “right” means more than that: “make justice, doesn’t matter who is to”

Okaaayy, I think I’m going right, 4 draws for every idea… I would give a total of… ummm… 20 ( oohh, shiittt!!). Well, I would be lying If I say that I didn’t gave half of the sketches requested. I wasn’t the only one, and the good part was that it looked like the teacher didn’t mind this.
After the recommendations, we started with the illustration right away; and with 2 weeks for making it (ahh, now you would let us work, right?)

The sketch chosen for me was this one

Mientras la gente piensa la frase como ayuda, da la mano, da dinero (cliché del salón de clases). La palabra “bien” significa mucho más y la frase también puede significar “Cumple justicia, sin importar quién este”

Okayy, creo que voy bien, 4 dibujos por cada idea…ummm… un total de listoosss… 20 (oh shiiittt!!). Bueno; no es para negar que ese día entregue la mitad de los pedidos; aunque no fui la única, y el profesor no pareció importarle mucho.
Tras las recomendaciones, comenzó el afiche como tal; y con 2 semanas para hacerlo (ah, ahora si dejan trabajar, ¿verdad?).

El boceto escogido para mí fue una de ayuda a los animales, específicamente este.

yes I know the quality is bad; but please, don’t ask too much, we had other classes and the amount of ideas requested was already desproportional.

se que la calidad es mala, pero no pidan mucho, tenía más materias y los bocetos pedidos ya eran absurdos.

The idea was to draw a combination of two sketches; one as the main focus and the other as the background.

Once the new sketch was made, we send it again to the teachers, so it could be accepted:

La idea era unir dos bocetos, uno como la escena de interés y el otro como el fondo.

we started with the real illustration; It took 52 hours, and sadly I didn’t record the progress of the final step; but here it is the results:

Perfect for animal lovers 😊. Personally I loved how the illustration turned out, and the message is one I’m also related to.
