Pixel Art | 16 Bit Kirby 👾

Morning and good day to all!

This morning I thought I would attempt more pixel art and I have to say that I there's something I really enjoy about the process.

Possibly the nostalgia of playing 16 bit video games in my youth.

Here's my Kirby, I used an existing pixel art image as reference and then made this my own with some extra colours, shaping, and shading.

16 Bit refers to the amount of memory in the video game consoles or computers of past generations. 16 bit games were/are capable or producing a total of 65536 different colors. That's tons for the purpose of pixel art.

Kirby made his first appearance in 1992, in a game called Kirby's Dream Land (Game Boy). He's definitely one of the most iconic Nintendo video game characters of all time. Reading from the Wiki it looks like he was originally just a place holder character used during development but managed to stick around!

Kirby's "super power" is his ability to copy his enemy's abilities and use them against them, powerful!

I'll leave you with a little OG Kirby's Dreamland game play ->>
