3D Render Image: "Modern House 9"

Time well spent. It took me the whole afternoon to visualize this box type house design to make it more appealing in this camera view. The rough 3d model of the house is a “royalty-free” downloadable asset from CGTrader which I just signed up for this morning. I’ve seen this site before but never really put some time to check on the products they have for sale. I’m amazed by the number of assets they have listed on their site.

For today, I got one of the free 3d models and tried to put my own spin to it. Understandably, the free model has a rough quality to it which is not acceptable for my standard. It requires tweaking & fine-tuning. In addition, I feel that the model lacks design consideration and so I modified the 3d model (about 30%).

Although the existing assigned materials were acceptable, I still managed to revise it to suit my preference. I’m a big fan of stucco finish and wood planks and so I set it as the major finishing for the house.

Finally, after 2 hours of rendering time, I managed to pull off the rendered image.

As I mentioned earlier, the design of the house is quite simple which is a simple box type. However, the interesting part of the design is the illusion that the upper floor is hovering above the lower floor. That’s because of the “clerestory window” that serves as a band around the house which gave the illusion of the separation of the levels.

Here are some of the 3d scene breakdown:
