Hello Blurtters.
Today I brought you a new pencil sketch.
Today's sketch is an exception. Because I didn't obey the rules today. To get the perfect shape of the model I used the biggest weapon of an artist, that is 'Assumption'. However, many rules have to be followed in drawing this image. I'll explain the rules below.
1. Basic Structure:
Before I do my sketch I draw a basic structure model. And I do that by observing the messurements of the model. Then I start my drawing by assumption. To get the basic structure I personally use a 2H pencil. That is why the outlines are hardly seen. But if you concentrate you will be able to see the outlines. This step is a must for my sketches. I always start my sketch with this inevitable step.
2. Shading:
After end of the first step, I started shading the model. This is the step where Sketches become alive. So now you know how important this is. So, basically, I start with 2B and 4B pencil. I continuously shading the model with those 2 pencil. I start with the hair. I used 4B pencil on them at first. But to get the realistic Shade I used 6B and 8B pencils. Hair was a difficult section of this portrait. Because models hair was not neat at all, I mean grubby. But after 1 hour of continuous work, I succeed. Then I started to shade the face. It was not difficult. But I spent about 30 minute on this. I used 4B and 6B for the face. But to Shade the eyes I needed a darker pencil, so I used a 10B pencil. It was all easy but the challenge was shading the vesture. I simply used 4B and and 6B. It seems easier, but trust me the curves on the vesture is the problem. Every time u drive your pencil on the paper every curve must be relevant to each other, So after 3 hours of continuous work, I finally finished the sketch.
3. Finish:
It took almost 5 hours. But after looking at the portrait I could not believe my eyes. cause every time I start a sketch the only thing my mind through is "I can not do this.". The lacking of confidence. But when I am finished, my confidence rise up like a rising sun. So as I compared my confidence with the rising sun, the rising sun also sinks at the end of the day. And this process repeats, so as I.
