“Paradox of Evolution”, created in over three years, was a period in which I could express an idea that is very close to my heart. I wanted to depict the bond and connection between man and his surroundings, the environment and the animal kingdom, an allegory of our existence and our role on this planet.
The human relationship with nature has taken unexpected turns. In its weaknesses and imperfections, we always found the possibility to evolve and get stronger but eventually, the balance and harmony between those two worlds has been compromised. Frantic pace of recent progress has put the whole system in danger, humanity included. And that’s the paradox.
On the run of perpetual improvement, or what we consider so, we have forgotten that we are not metaphorically the centre of the universe, but only a small fraction which needs to adapt and not vice versa. Three figures of the composition communicate with each other through their gestures and interaction, further invested with meaning by contrasting pictorial elements fused into their bodies, or elsewhere present. The choice of dancers means an idea of movement, a constant change of perception of the things around us, all linked together, man, nature, and animal component into a kind of cosmic dance that envelopes us completely.
