End SARS

The Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) is a unit of the Nigerian Police Force founded in 1992 with the aim to reduce the increasing rate of armed robbery at the time. During the early years of SARS, they were known to operate covertly in plain clothes, with unmarked or cars with private licensed cars and don't go about brandishing their guns in the public sphere.
SARS during its formative years through to the early 2000's was known to have achieved tremendous success in its operation and performing its duty.

At the turn of the millennia corruption, scandal rocked the Nigerian Police Force, which affected all departments which didn't exclude SARS. SARS went from tracking and apprehending armed robbers to becoming the rogue arm of the Nigerian Police Force. They have been known to have committed heinous crimes against the people of Nigeria especially youths in the southern part of the country, crimes ranging from kidnapping, murder, aggravated assault, extortion, and many more.

The section of the population impacted by the SARS debacle is the youth, most especially those trying to get a good life by trying to make more of the little given.
Software developers, forex traders, bloggers e.t.c. are amongst the primary targets of SARS, they are proscribed as internet fraudsters and are sometimes extorted, incarcerated, or even executed without trials. There are many stories of SARS brutality but the most touching of them all is the killing of Remo Stars football club player Kazeem Tiamiyu who refuse to succumb to blackmail and extortion and was killed in the PROCESS, Tiamiyu was a young vibrant aspiring young lad whose dream was cut short by those who are supposed to be responsible for his protection. They have been many death and disappearance which has been linked to SARS, but nothing has been done to bring the rogue officers of this unit to book therefore making them feel unstoppable.

SARS has deviated from its primary responsibility of protecting the citizens of Nigeria to becoming a menace and threat, this unit of the Nigerian Police Force has outlived its usefulness and therefore should be scrapped.
