Good morning great people @blurt.
Most times when we consider what's happening around us, a question of whether or not miracles still happens.
The parting of the Red Sea… the healing of the blind man… the sick being restored to health… a marriage restored… a life saved. Miracles surround us, even if we ignore them or find ourselves too busy to notice the hand of God moving in the lives of men. Every child who grows old when doctors claimed they would never see their teenage years… every job provided… every adoption realized, or birth rejoiced. Our God is a god of miraculous events.
Why should we be surprised by God’s many gifts of miraculous interventions? Compassion flows from God’s character. Jesus is often recorded as performing miracles because he felt compassion for the sick or injured person (i.e. Mark 1:41). His care for us is so deep and so extravagant that his mercy flows and transforms the lives of those who cling to him for strength.
In addition to God’s miracles being an expression of His compassion and love for us, they also serve the purpose of proving His power.
John 2:23 says:
Now while he (Jesus) was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the miraculous signs he was doing and believed in his name.” Miracles point us to God by proving He has power and authority over everything (Matthew 11:4-6 and 28:18).
Miracles are not merely a thing of the past. They surround us and cushion us from the harshness of this world. Nothing is impossible with God and that is why we can trust Him. He is still worthy of Asaph’s
Psalm 77:14, “You are the God who performs miracles, you display your power among the peoples.”
HAVE A BLESSED DAY.
