We’re still the poverty capital of the world. As it is friday & this is a Holy Sermon,

But poverty & insecurity HAVE accelerated since 2015.

Whether you attribute this to lag from previous admins, or this regime’s incompetent, there is a problem.
The Government’s well-intentioned plan of directing people to agriculture is impoverishing the nation.
I repeat - people who go into agriculture represent the poorest AND largest segment of society.
Govt needs to find a way to add value and on the other hand.... insecurity has gotten so bad that kidnapping is now a multi-million dollar industry. Blame crippling poverty, or the failure of security agencies to punish offenders, but for the rich & poor kidnappers have become an environmental risk like malaria...Things are worse now than they were five years ago. And things will probably get worse even if we start now to try to correct this death spiral Nigeria is caught in

What can we do? A list:

i) The subsidy removal is a great start, as is the alleged approval to adopt the Orosanye Report.

ii) Stop taking these crazy loans and try to get the private sector to fund our infrastructure gap.

iii) FIRS of Nigeria
needs to get better at their job.

iv) Devolve power generation to the states.

v) Pass the electoral amendment.

vi) Create state police. Yes, I know the risk of giving Little-finger his own private army, but insecurity has location-specific traits locals might be better able to handle.

Vii) States should set their minimum wage.

viii) Scrap FAAC. States should own natural resources, and pay a tax to the FG. The FG can keep off-shore resources.

It’s not an exhaustive list, but as the sun riseth from the East, if we do these things, Nigeria go survive. 🙏🏽
