Breaking Down Our Strongholds

Hello guys, welcome to the world for today.

There are alot of people today struggling from various forms of strongholds.

The first of the 10 plagues according to
Exodus 7:14-24, shattered the Egyptians’ idea of safety and prosperity. Since before Egypt was Egypt, the people had depended on the waters of the Nile. They brought life to the region. The floods brought nutrients for the soil, the fish brought food, and the current brought trade and transportation. When the land grew arid, the Nile provided them with life like no other place in the land. So important was this river that the people created myths to elevate its status. God broke down the foundation of their comfort with His first plague. In order for them to realize God had complete authority, He had to prove no one else could claim power.

There were three Egyptian gods who were associated with the Nile: Khnum, Hapi, and Osiris. Khnum was said to be the guardian of the Nile. The Egyptians believed he created human bodies and placed them in a woman’s womb. They referred to him as Lord of created things. Hapi was the spirit of the Nile. The people referred to him as the “Father of the gods”. Finally, Osiris whose blood they believed was the Nile itself was seen as the keeper of the afterlife and the judge of the dead.

Colossians 1:15-16, speaking of Jesus, tells us:

He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities – all things were created through him and for him.

Also, John 1:1-3 says:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.
As far as being the judge – there is only one judge. “…Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and dead.” (2 Timothy 4:1)

God’s goal is to bring all of us to repentance. To do that, He must shatter the strongholds of our life. Until we understand that there is nothing in this world that can save us, we will never understand how precious the saving power of God is. Until we acknowledge that our lives will be judged by God Almighty, we will not live according to His will and word. God cares more about our salvation than our comfort, and for the Egyptians, it started with the water they depended on being turned to putrid blood. What are you depending on rather than God? What strongholds do you hang on to instead of running into the powerful arms of your God? Reject the safety of this world and cling to Christ.
