The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) held a lecture and monument commissioning ceremony on July 9, 2024, in honor of the late Major General Aderonke Kale (retired), a trailblazer who became the first female officer to attain the rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army (NA).
The NDA Commandant, Major General JO Ochai, delivered a keynote address praising Major General Kale's remarkable achievements and emphasizing the importance of equal opportunities for both genders in the military.
Navy Captain FM Solebo, the guest lecturer, shed light on the barriers faced by women in the armed forces and proposed policies to promote gender equality.
The special guest of honor, Major General AO Amusu (retired), the second female officer to reach the rank of Major General in the NA and former commander of the Army Medical Corps, commended the initiative and encouraged female cadets to remain focused and dedicated to their careers.
The event served as a tribute to Major General Kale's legacy and a testament to the NDA's commitment to gender equality and inclusivity in the military.
