PENTECOST 👞 SHOES AND CLOTHES:
Another form of what happened in Jerusalem.

Introduction

Pentecost is not just about the spirt in theory but let’s bring out that practical aspect of life that can make others understand what we are saying . For me , the simple way to do this is to share what you have .

MY STORY

It was Sunday and for Catholics it was Pentecost Sunday . Traditionally , Pentecost ushers the birth of the Church . Scripture tells us in Acts of the Apostles 2 :1ff the great events that had happened at the upper room in Jerusalem; and how those who were present received the gift of the Holy Spirit .

On that day , the manifestation of the Spirit was obvious in the language they spoke . Each man in his/her language , yet all those who were devout Jews across the globe who had visited Jerusalem waiting for the celebration of the great feast of unleaven bread could hear them speak in their local dialects . Men from all works of life, each hear clearly.

THE PUZZLE OF LANGUAGE

What was this language ?
Theologians and analysts suggest that the language was the language of love . Love that was rooted in practical works .
Love that had no discrimination, but required total giving . While this could be argued or further espoused on from other dimensions, one thing is clear, the Spirit came as a unifier , and did unify them and the fruits of that day left everyone speechless.

MY LOCAL COMMUNITY

Today , in my local community the little girls around came and asked me ; Fr , what giftS are you giving us on Pentecost ? Love , I retorted and they said, let’s see the love.
So I went into the car and got some shoes 👞 I had kept for some time now for them as well as clothes which were reserved for my anticipated visit to the prisons.
To my greatest amusement, I was so suprise to see how eternally grateful many were . This has taught me that never take for granted the gift you offer someone ; you might mean the world to them .

In my usual style I told them, this is what blurt-Pentecost means ; that you share with one another , no matter how little it is . I charged them to do so in future when they are blessed . Am sure they will do same .
It all ended in laughter .
