Young Milo was orphaned when his parents were killed in an expedition led by Corvus a Roman Senator and Proculus his bodyguard and right-hand man. After the sad event Milo was captured by slave traders and grew up a slave.
He was taken to the Roman town Pompei which was situated very close to an active volcanic mountain. He then became a skillful gladiator although disliked by many of his co-gladiators accept the champion of Pompei, Atticus who had to win just one more fight to become a freeman.
As events rolled out, he came across the Cassia the daughter of Severus the governor of Pompei and they fell in love with each other even though they both knew the circumstances around them makes it all almost impossible to work out since he was just a slave. But Cassia also has the attention of Milo's sworn enemy Senator Corvus a very cunning and desperate politician.
Senator Corvus found a way to impose his will on Severus and Aurelia, Cassia's parents and had her betrothed to him against her will and with her parents able to do nothing about the situation.
Severus organised a fight show to honor Senator Corvus and win him over to his great ambitions for his town Pompei but being a desperately crooked man Senator Corvus found a way to turn the supposed show to a massacre of the gladiators with the intention of getting Milo killed in the fight but Milo and Atticus survived and won the fight against all odds.
The end of the fight was followed by an eruption of the volcanic mountain bringing along with it death, chaos and utter destruction of Pompei with its inhabitants but not before Milo had the opportunity to seize his long sought vengeance on Senator Corvus and Proculus his bodyguard for the death of his parents.
It is a story of love, vengeance and friendship. I enjoyed every bit of it although it was a tragedy finally.
Thanks for viewing and do have a great day
