Clarification of my Curation of #blurtafrica | What gets my vote?

I had a recent comment by one of the blurters I posted my comment for curation on their post. This blurter is @makeitrain4ever

The question was:
"Are you a mod for the tag or, do you just visit the posts made with the tag?"

I found this to be an interesting question and I was in the mood to move my fingers on the keyboard and this it the response I gave, and I thought it would be worthy to share with others and the rest of the community.

So here was my response:
There are no mods in the blurt community because there is no negative action to take against users, and even if there was based on what guidelines would we take those actions. To do that you would become centralized and defeat the purpose.

I vote based upon my own guidelines and what interests me within the #blurtafrica community. I do not vote for everything tagged #blurtafrica.

  1. It has to do with Africa or about someone who is clearly a diasporan of Africa.
  2. If it has nothing to do with Africa and it is just not interesting I am probably not going to vote for it.
  3. Something that is personal and clearly African in Identity or subject will get at least a 25% vote. Images with little text will get at least a 25% vote. Great original on topic text will get at least's 25% vote if it has little imagery, no imagery and only sourced images. (please provide sources for all images, I shy away from voting for pots with no images sources)
  4. Original Personal content with multiple original images with a good written interpretation of the images and on topic of Africa will get at least 50% vote.
  5. Art with steps of the process with an African context will get a 50% vote always.
  6. You will get a 100% vote for posts that that hit me in a good way, be it art, writing and photography or community building.

I actually had this in a post for the last curation report that I did. I think no one read it because it was horribly voted also. Must have been too boring.

Maybe I should do a refresher post on my voting guidelines only.

Basically I can't stop anyone from tag spamming #blurtafrica, and it happens a lot with people posting with no relevance to Africa and clearly from another part of the world. But I an reward those that are providing African eccentric, original, interesting (to me) content.

Note: I have basically stopped voting for posts with pictures and not text at all.

@makeitrain4ever, thanks for the question and challenging me to clearly define for the community again, how a vote the way I do.

And thank you #blurtafrica for giving me a welcoming community to focus on.

very good, and now that reblurts work, it would be of great benefit to reblog the best so that others that do not focus on Africa, but will support good original posts, can see them by following you.

If you ever find that your own posts get submerged in the curation, then maybe use a dedicated new account - just advice from past experience.

Good idea I can work on that for sure.

Thanks Alot Bro... I was just talking with
@dreemsteem on the Discord channel of @dreemport and I mentioned how I saw someone that is doing PROPER CURATION on Blurt.

It's impressive because that's the whole idea of Dreemport Project which will be launched fully on Blurt soon.

Thanks again for giving me more details about how you run your Curation. It's impressive. And thanks for checking out #blurtafrica

This is already reblurted. People need to read it. Hehe

Wanted to add that the saying no good deed goes unpunished is not always true. I found myself drawn since coming to several posts by those living in Africa as they discuss self sufficiency in a way not common in the so called civilized world. Time and again I would come across his curation comments and finally my curiosity got the best of me so I took a look at his account. I was expecting the typical curation blog that simply posts on who they up voted, but instead found one of the most interesting blogs on Blurt. His unselfish acts to help others manifested an appreciation for both his character and actions from an impartial third party and he has had my support ever since.

Blurt is a good environment for those with a pure heart and desire to reward others to flourish and be acknowledged by a community that appreciates such intent.

I was expecting the typical curation blog that simply posts on who they up voted,

Lol... I'm having a good laugh already. There are people that engaging in curation only to make their usual curation posts and share it with the rest of the blockchain. Of course, it is their account and they work with their stakes so I can't complain.

I also see creations that leave the same comment on all the posts decorate and it just doesn't show genuity because there is nothing in the comments that prove that they actually read the post before curating it. Hehe... It's also one of those things people do with their stakes.

We are all free and that's a good thing. But then, the likes of @leifasaur is making the right effort and we can all see the genuity of his action.

I see Blurt doing well on the long run.

Great work. It's important that people know what is required to get an upvote from their use of the #blurtafrica tag.

That way, they know how to use the tag better, and equally goes a long way to reduce the spamming.

Problem is, a lot of people do not like reading long texts and so long original posts like some of yours, may go unread and poorly voted.

There should be more communities with tags on here.

Feel free to start a community.

If I had more time I would run some contests, but I am hardly keeping up with the curating and a few posts.

You are doing a good job boss
Thank you for reemphasizing on the need to make african related post with the #blurtafrica tag.
Most people have been misunderstanding and misusing this tag.
Thank you once again.

You are welcome.

That's fair enough and perfectly laid out. I was about to ask why you stopped supporting me and reading this, I feel it's well laid out. I am more of a poetry person...passing my message in a simple way possible...

Greetings from Nigeria.

I didn't stop supporting you I just had to focus my curation due to the growth of the community. I try to vote your poetry when it is subject to Nigeria or Africa. Thanks for reading.

I think that's fair enough. Thanks for all that you do for this community. It means a lot.

You were also almost at the top of the list of % of my vote at one point so I am just spreading the love now.

That's so true... I was always making my posts with excitement then because I knew you would come around. Thanks a lot for everything.

I am a very new here.
I read your this .
I felt there that only an African or oftenly an African can get your upvote .
I am Very fond of photography.
But I am not from Africa. Then what should I do.

You dont have to be African but the post should be about africa at the least. I have to focus my votes somewhere and this makes it easy for me and a community I am in and want to grow. I would suggest you look for other curation projects that would value your content. I sometimes when I have more time give my upvotes for general content on blurt that I appreciate.
